Damiana - Turnera Diffusa
Turnera diffusa, known as damiana is a shrub native to southern Texas in the United States.
In ancient medicine Damiana was used mostly to increase sexual desire (as an aphrodisiac).
It is also used to treat stomach problems, diarrhea, and constipation and to improve symptoms of menopause and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
Damiana contains chemicals that may affect the brain and nervous system, for this reason it is classified as a Nervine Herb.
Nervine herbs help the nervous system. There are two types of nervines; stimulating and sedative.
Relaxing Nervine Herbs like Damiana are known to be also:
Mood Elevator (Anti-Depressant)
Hypnotic (relax mind/ induce sleep)
Anti-Spasmodic(Relaxes muscle spasms)
Nervine Tonic (strengthen, nourish, restore)
Damiana is thought to increase sexual arousal and stamina in men and women,
boosting mental and physical stamina.
It's also used to treat a vast array of symptoms from diabetes to anxiety.
Early research suggests that taking a specific combination product containing damiana, L-arginine, American ginseng, Panax ginseng, ginkgo, vitamins, and minerals might improve sexual satisfaction, increase orgasm frequency, and reduce vaginal dryness in women with sexual problems who are interested in improving their sex lives.

TIPS FOR HERBAL TEA PREPARATION:
Herbal teas are made by steeping dried herbs (usually 1-2 teaspoon) in hot water for AT LEAST 20 minutes, straining and drinking. It is important to keep the infusion covered while steeping the herb for a more intense extraction of the properties.
It is also recommended not to boil the water before adding it to the herb, just bring it very close to boiling point and pour it inn.
It’s also important when making herbal teas, to add the water to the herbs and steep instead of boiling the herbs with the water. If the dried herbs were boiled with the water, then your tea will not be as medicinally potent.
Another important tip is to use dried herbs instead of fresh herbs. The drying process breaks down cell walls thus allowing the medicinal properties to be extracted into hot water.
